Democrats Win in Iowa

So the Iowa Democratic Caucus results are:
Barack Obama - 38 percent
John Edwards - 30 percent
Hillary Clinton - 29 percent
Bill Richardson - 2 percent

Des Moines Register's political columnists David Yepsen sees the bigger picture, Democrats turned out in record numbers, nearly two and half times as many caucus goers as Republicans.

Democrats Win Caucus Night
Posted 1/3/2008 9:40 PM CST

Over 227,000 Democrats attended their precinct caucuses Thursday night in Iowa.

There were 93,000 who showed up for the Republican meetings.

In other words, the Democratic turnout was more than double the Republican one. It speaks volumes about what may happen on election night come November.

The Democratic turnout was almost double what it was four years ago and set another record. Republicans haven't had a record since 1988.

In short, Democrats are enjoying more energy and their candidates attracting more support and attention than the Republicans.

This does not bode well for the GOP in November. Republicans need to be asking what they and their candidates can do about their turnout loss on caucus night.

My answer: stop being republicans. They had their last chance with 2000 and 2004. Now their way of life will end.

Ya'Allah, the GOP is dying!
