Hong Tran for Senate

i had the chance to see Hong again, this weekend, at the annual Whatcom Democrats picnic

and then at the home of a supporter with supporters and friends attenting.

Hong once again impressed me with her knowledge of issues, integrity and willingness to fight for the people she represents. she has a law degree and she knows how to use it!!! she has stood up on her own behalf to her own party as they pushed her to the sidelines and denied her access to data her opponent recieved. she spent 14 years working for a non-profit that provided legal representation for poor and working poor people, including veterans. she saw budget cuts and bad legislation hurt the most vulnerable among us while the wealthiest enjoyed tax cuts and increased wealth. she will stand up for the people she represents and fight. she will make an excellent Senator and she will get my vote.

Isn't she great? I'm trying to get her to come to Tacoma for Labor Day - hope she can make it.

Thanks Peggy! Ms. Tran made a house visit to bring signs to our Seattle home and we were pleased to have our children meet her. As new neighbors, we have Tran in our yard; our neighbor has Cantwell. Many dog walkers stop by to read our signs including Healthcare for All/HR 676, and NO on I-933. Thanks for all you are doing!

I dunno...

What's the betting line on whether she'll get more votes than Goodspaceguy?

Hong Tran has my vote. I am a former Foreign Service officer, state of Washington social worker, and community activist.

She also has the votes of thousands more. I have copied below the letter to the editor in the conservative Spokesman-Review (Spokane, Washington) by Dr. John Olsen.

Letters to the editor
Tran for U.S. Senate

Hong Tran arrived as a refugee from Vietnam in 1975 when she was an 8-year-old child. She has a very deep and personal memory of that conflict that consumed our country. Our troops were on the ground for one year. She was "on the ground" for her entire life before finding sanctuary here.

Her understanding of the issues of our current troops being sent back for multiple tours in Iraq is deep, wide and personal. She is running for the U.S. Senate as a Democrat against Maria Cantwell, who is not speaking out on this critical issue.

Having served as a captain in the Army Medical Service Corps from 1968 to 1970, I have had countless conversations with hundreds of Vietnam era veterans over my years of clinical practice from 1970 to 2000. Those conversations all argue against this current conflict.

The observation has been made that the lack of activism around the war centers on an all volunteer service, without a draft. Were the average family sending their young men and women for service to fill a draft, the war would likely find quick resolution.

I have voted for Hong Tran. Please join me.
