Audience members roared in triumph and gave a standing ovation to Bellingham City Council members after an anti-war resolution passed 6-1 Monday night.

The resolution, as passed, urges Congress to "immediately commence plans to end the occupation of Iraq and bring our troops safely home." ... (full article)
The text of the resolution is here. This IS how democracy works. Majority rules. The City Council are the representatives of the people of Bellingham. It's perfectly reasonable for the Council to petition the Federal Government on the behalf of their constituents.

Every day the Bush Administration is allowed to continue "staying the course" there are more needless deaths!
