Boil water order issued for near Ferndale, Blaine
E. coli found in Bell Bay Jackson water
JARED PABEN / THE BELLINGHAM HERALD
UPDATED AT 10:30 A.M.
Customers of the the Bell Bay Jackson Water Association between Ferndale and Blaine should boil all drinking water until futher notice, after officials discovered E. coli in the water supply.
Water used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation should be boiled for three to five minutes before use. The bacteria’s presence is an indication that human or animal waste has made it into the water.
Officials don’t know what caused the contamination, but they will re-seal a water tank to correct the problem, according to the water association.
Officials anticipate the problem will be fixed by Friday, but people should boil water until the water association notifies them it’s OK to drink without boiling.
